Rāmkalni is a family-run food producer, organic farm and holiday park. The company's production facility offers healthy and delicious products, both on the local market and far beyond Latvia's borders.
The story of Ramkalni begins before 25 years with a ski slope in winter, a roller-skating track in summer, a shop and a cosy tavern right in Inčukalns by the Gauja Bridge. 2008 financial crisis turned to food production, which in turn led to agriculture. Now, Rāmkalni is a multi-sectoral enterprise that continues to actively develop in its existing sectors, while also embracing new things - a pizzeria and an organic bakery have recently opened in Rāmkalni.
Viktors Grūtups has been the owner of the company since day one and can be found almost every day in the Ramkalni Recreation Park or in the farm's fields and gardens.
How did the story of Rāmkalni begin? Rāmkalnu Park came into being thanks to Viktors’ love of skiing and outdoor activities; as for farming, it began as a hobby and a desire to establish a fully self-sustaining farm. Usually, people grow something and then start thinking about processing it; at Rāmkalni, we started our work the other way round. We started with food processing and, as we went along and addressed the issue of raw material availability, we decided to start growing quinces ourselves. Then we added pumpkins and rhubarb, and gradually our range has grown quite extensive. As well as the crops already mentioned, we also grow large-fruited cranberries in Latgale, and we’re now in our fourth season as organic grain farmers. Our entire farm has been organic from day one; we farm in an environmentally friendly and responsible manner.
Our team is stable and friendly. There are people who have been with the company from day one. We are proud of our for agricultural workerswho work in the field every day with machinery and implements.
At harvest time, we organise big clean-upsinvolving everyone from the finance and marketing manager to the CEO. We can safely say that we are a friendly and optimistic team!
